Description

Lord Pezi excels as a breeding genius. Successful in international sport under Gilbert Böckmann, he has left a lasting legacy through his offspring, appearing in the pedigrees of numerous top-class showjumpers. His descendants stand out as intelligent athletes for high-level competition, possessing exceptional scope, plenty of drive, natural caution, and excellent jumping technique.

An impressive 35 offspring of Lord Pezi have been successful in 1.60 m show jumping. This achievement secured their sire a place among the world’s top showjumping sires, according to the ranking of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH). For instance, Louis, ridden by Beat Mändli (SUI), placed tenth in the individual final at the European Championships in Madrid (ESP) and finished second in the World Cup jumping competition in Oslo (NOR). Other highly successful offspring include Pezi with Beat Mändli (SUI), Lariccello with Helen McNaught (GBR), Le-Champ under Mikhail Safronov (RUS), Lord Spezi under Margie Engle Goldstein (USA), Little Pezi with Mario Stevens, Londinium with Lillie Keenan (USA), and Like a Virgin with Jan Distel.

Fourteen sons of Lord Pezi have been licensed, including the OS champion stallion Luca Toni, the Hanoverian showjumping champion Lord Fauntleroy—now competing internationally at 1.60 m—who was one of the top-priced stallions at the Verden Stallion Market, selling for €180,000; the NRW premium stallion Legendario, who sold for €140,000; and the OS premium stallion and Ib main premium winner Lord Pezi Junior, who competes successfully at 5* level, including World Cup events, under Pedro Veniss (BRA).

Lord Pezi’s sire, Lacros, a son of the legendary Landgraf I, earned lifetime winnings of over €200,000 under his rider Dirk Schröder, with numerous victories in Grand Prix competitions.

His dam’s sire, Zymbal I, was the second reserve champion of his licensing.

Lord Pezi’s dam, Miss Playback, was also an outstanding producer. Born in 1987—long before advanced breeding techniques such as embryo transfer, ICSI, or OPU—she excelled by producing four licensed sons, two 1.60 m-successful offspring, one 1.50 m-successful son, and two 1.45 m-successful sport horses. Her daughter Free Lilly, competing under the sport name Who Knows Lilly, participated in the Olympic Games in Athens (GRE). When bred to Cartani, she produced the internationally 1.60 m-successful sire Christian.

His granddam, Wichtelfe, competed in S-level show jumping under the sport name Windspiel and, through her daughter Wichtige (by Zymbal I), became the granddam of the licensed stallion Pablo’s As (by Pablo), who placed in the 1997 Bundeschampionat final and secured S-level victories. From Wichtelfe’s daughter Landelfe comes La Martinee, the international success mare of Katharina Offel.

Additionally, the Schwabensprung dam line has produced licensed stallions such as Fiorissimo, Laibach, and Weißdorn, as well as Thomas Frühmann’s highly successful show jumper Domspatz.
